I turned 40 on New Year's Eve. Here I am on my way to happy hour with a few girlfriends (channeled a bit of '80's Coedith) and below my absolute favorite thing about my birthday...
Fondue with my family while we ring in the new year watching Little House On The Prairie.
This year I decided to do something different for my 40th New Year. I am buying all new essentials, basically the things that are closest to my skin, makeup, lingerie and bedding.
Let's start with makeup.
I have always bought my makeup at department stores. I have been wearing MAC studio fix nc30 and del rio lipstick forever. I also like Lancome and Clinique (especially their free gifts!)
Over the years I have begun to question their superiority over drugstore brands. Here is what I am doing about it, for my birthday I bought all new drugstore makeup. I am tossing all the rest and going to give it a go. Below are my purchases which I will be reviewing in future posts.
Happy 40th!!!

Happy birthday! Hope I look as amazing as you when I turn 40 (I'll be 38 this year....doesn't time fly!) :)
ReplyDeleteAwww! Happy Birthday! You are inspiring me to break out the Little House dvds again... I like to watch the series from beginning to end little by little - Moses will have to go along with my plan.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteWow! Brave move with the makeup! I'm pretty hooked on my MAC makeup. I'm so pale I have a really difficult time finding drugstore brands that are light enough and when I seem to find one (or when I did once upon a time) when it was time to buy more it always seemed to be discontinued and replaced with something else!
I can't wait to see what you have to say about the switch!
Happy New Year! Love your blog!
Happy 40th!:-)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!
ReplyDeleteBTW-I think Revlon has some damn good makeup at a fraction of department stores!
