Wearing A Tree Skirt

Yesterday-the day before I needed to wear it- I decided to make myself a Christmas skirt.  I do not sew, so this is quite an accomplishment!  (my daughter Ruth does sew and helped me out some)

Doesn't it look just like a Christmas tree skirt!?
Followed online circle skirt directions.  I would link you but I truly used a hodgepodge of many.  I had the hardest time with the waist.  Following the circumference divided by 3.14 equals the diameter....somewhere something was off and the waist was way too big.  Some creative altering involving scissors and safety pins and no one was the wiser.

The felt appliques were from a garland I took apart.

This is our actual tree skirt, maybe next year I will end up wearing it!

Merry Christmas!

  1. I wanted to make myself a circle skirt but I don't want to spend tons on fabric when I am not sure how it will look on me. So I bought a round table cloth from a thrift store and I will see how that works. I also bought a giant sheet as well that might end up being a skirt if it looks good on me! I found a good tutorial somewhere but it was for kids sizes... I will just have to wing it and hope!

  2. Super cute, I'm in the same boat as you, with my sewing experience. I love your hair, I've been thinking about getting some Betty Page bangs, but I know as soon as I do, I'll want to get all the hair off my face. Merry Christmas.
